Chairman

Kalyan Harpalani
Kalyan was born in Hyderabad (Sindh). He is a professional Engineer, and retired from Pratt and Whitney Canada after working there for more than 30 years. He is married to Mohina Harpalani, who is a Physiotherapist, and is working at Trillium Health Partners. They have a son, Aakash, who is an Engineeer, and a daughter, Chandni, who is an Occupational Therapist. Kalyan was elected to Gurmandir Board in 2002, and was a director till 2009. He rejoined the board in 2012.

Vice-Chair

Kavita Jagasia
Kavita lives in Toronto with her husband -Sunil, son - Sameer and their dog called Oreo. She has worked in various Management roles at American Express for over 21 years. She is passionate about giving back to the community at large and enjoys travelling, music and dance

Treasurer

Krishan Vasdani
Krishan Vasdani has been living in Canada since 1974. For the past twelve years, he has been actively involved within the Sindhi community, serving as membership director on the SCAT board for 4 years and treasurer on the GurMandir board for 3. In that same time period, he has been working for Clarica/Sunlife. Married to Rekha for the past 22 years, with three beautiful daughters- Nadiya, Tara & Jyoti, Krishan is a hard-working father that never quits. Dedicated to making GurMandir successful in its path, Krishan will continue to provide his best.

Secretary

Bharati Gogia
I am a Professional Engineer having long experience in various industries in Quality and Regulatory field. I have been associated with GurMandir since inception. I have been on GurMandir Board since 2010--this is my second term. I was actively involved in social activities in India mainly for upliftment of Women in the society.

Sher Motwani
Sher Motwani a Professional Engineer and President of A Manufacturing Company. Married for past 35 years, father of two daughters and has a 2 year old grandson. Sher's wife Meena is actively involved in all the activities of the Sindhi Community. Sher has been the Chairman of Gurmandir Board for past 6 years and has involved with the Sindhi Association for 10 years. Under his leadership, Toronto Sindhis organized a very successful Sindhi Sammelan in 1997, which was attended by more than 1000 Sindhi Delegates From around the world

Usha Pradhan
Usha Pradhan was born In Bombay ( Mumbai ) India to Hira & Laxman Shahani. She has been in Canada since 1970 & has worked in Credit / Collection area for over 40 years. Usha has one daughter Shefali . Usha joined Gurmandir Board in 2013.

Fund-raising Director

Dr.Jagdish Butany
Dr Jagdish Butany qualified as a pathologist (Toronto, FRCPC '79). He is Professor and Director of Anatomical Pathology at the University of Toronto, and Staff Pathologist and Consultant Cardiovascular Pathologist at the Toronto General Hospital/University Health Network. A founding member of the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology he was its President (Mar '07 -Mar '09) and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Pathology(2000-2011), the official journal of the SCVP. He was the president of the Canadian Association of Pathologists (Oct 06-July 09). Actively involved in Social activities, he is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The Scarborough Hospital, works with the Maytree foundation on its mentorship committee and is the Secretary- Treasurer of the World Association of Societies of Pathology and Laboratory.

 

SCAT Representative

Nanik Lakhani
Nanik Lakhani is a Professional Engineer working as an IT specialist in software industry. His wife Chandra, is working as a Chemist in pharmaceutical industry. Nanik and Chandra have a son (Shailesh, married to Shilpa Keswani) and a daughter (Dr. Nina, married to Dr. Kunaal Jindal). Living in Canada since 1982, Nanik has been part of Sadhu Vaswani Centre (SVC), Toronto since 1999 and was Secretary on SCAT board from 2000-2002. Nanik was on Gur Mandir Board from 2004-2008 and again has been on SCAT board since 2012. Nanik had a lead role in organizing Rev. J.P. Vaswani's Toronto visits and public programs in 2009 and 2013. He is dedicated to conducting weekly Sadhu Vaswani Satsangs and organizing all SVC events at Gur Mandir.
